HISTORY OF ACACIA HONEY
Bulgaria has a long history of production and use of bee products, dating back to the ancient Thracian period (1 Millenium Bc). The most popular bee products often used in prophylactics and treatments for numerous diseases are honey. In this mini-review we outline the most important results published till now with respect to the health promoting potential of Bulgarian Acacia honey.
WHAT IS ACACIA HONEY
This is a very mild tasting tree blossom honey. It has one of the lightest tastes in the world of honey, it is a little like a soft silky and cream taste. This comes from bees feeding on the Acacia blossoms on the Bulgarian Acacia trees. It has a very low glucose content so tends to always be in a runny state, the tree has been well known throughout history as a source of medicine by the African tribes, Greeks, Romans and European settlers.
USES AND BENEFITS OF ACACIA HONEY

DIGESTION - Acacia honeys active enzymes improve stomach and duodenum mucous membrane (lining) regeneration. In addition, this type of honey has anti acidic properties therefore it is commonly used as part of natural treatment in peptic ulcer disease.
Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus. Acacia honey is recommended in non-advanced, Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus because it contain high quantities of fructose which is readily absorbed by your body. Keep in mind that freshly extracted acacia honey contains a lot, as for honey, sucrose which is carbohydrate and should be avoided in that disease.
LIVER DETOX - Again, high quantity of easily absorbed fructose and glucose, that revitalizes your liver.
KIDNEY AND URINARY SYSTEM ISSUES - It is said that acacia honey has diuretic qualities which is desired effect in urinary and kidney problems. This honey also has low protein quantity compare to other honeys.
